Designer Kati Stern presented Venexiana‘s Fall 2008 show attendees with flowing silhouettes, luxurious fur in camel, gold, burgundy and brown and structured jackets with deep, deep V-necks. Old Hollywood (think Betty Grable) was apparent, as well as the rocker glam that Stern is known for.

Especially in the pretty, yet edgy eye created by Lori Hamlin and her team. “It’s Rock ‘n’ Roll meets pretty,” she explains. “Katie is very Rock ‘n’ Roll.” Using products of various brands, Hamlin created a vibrant gold-moss and swept it on the lids. One whole box of Ardell individual lashes were applied on each eye, keeping up with the luxurious theme. The team stained the lips with a deep red with the finger while the models puckered.
The hair, structures curls to one side of the head “takes two seconds to do, but weeks to prepare for,” says hairstylist Karmela Lozina. Lots of work was put in to come up with the perfect gel formulation for staying power and a clean look of the Shirley Temples in the front and intricate “weaved“ design in the back. Sahag Air Power Hairspray and 3D Volumizing Hairspray also helped keep the style in place.
Kiss Nails custom-designed the nails for the show. Stern told them what she was looking for, they presented her with sample ideas and out comes the French manicure with a rhinestone in the upper left corner of the nail. Just as sophisticated and glamorous as the collection.
Kiss Nails are press-on manicures in a box. Just press one Kiss nail on top of your real nail (they come with a sticky glue on the back of them) and voila! A perfect manicure minus the salon. They come off easily with warm water and are sold in drugstores, mass market retailers nationwide and Walgreens.com.
